Success Story

In servicing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) facility in Montoursville, PA, we normally had two cleaners working two hours a day. In early 2003, due to the changing of hours and employee departures, we needed to find the right combination of employee(s) to get the job done satisfactorily. It was decided to try a new worker from the Community Employment Services Program, a Hope affiliate. We met with the employee, John, and explained our situation to him. He was extremely excited to learn of this new opportunity and determined to make things work. John was assigned regular hours six days a week. He understood his work performance would determine whether the contract was renewed.

John was not only able to fulfill the contract cleaning requirements, but he also was able to turn heads at the FAA for his ability to multi-task. After three months with John on the job, we met with the FAA manager and representatives from National Industries for the Severely Handicapped to do a walk through inspection. This was the time to check John’s progress to see if contract renewal was a possibility. The findings were amazing. Upon meeting with the facility manager, he made a point of stating that he was pleased to have John on the job. The FAA reported they have never had cleaning done so well. The FAA is completely satisfied with John, and John is equally as happy.
