Programs and Services: Group Homes
Hope Enterprises Inc. operates more than thirty group homes located in Lycoming and Clinton counties. The number of people living in the group homes range between two and six and may be co-ed, all women, or all men. The ages range from children as young as ten to adults of any age.
Our Staff
The group homes have staff on duty twenty-four hours daily with many
having staff awake on third shift. In addition to those homes, we
operate Semi-Independent Living homes where staff work only second
shift. For those people who have medical conditions that require nursing
care, we provide services at group homes staffed with various levels of
nursing. All of the group homes have the support of a registered nurse
to assist staff in managing medical conditions that do not require
on-site nursing care. Training to manage specific illnesses is also
provided by medically trained staff. Staff also receive medical support
and training through the regional Health Care Quality Unit which is
funded by the State of Pennsylvania.
Different Environments for Different Needs
Group homes serve people with a wide range of developmental disabilities including mental retardation, autism spectrum disorders, communication disorders, mental health issues, and others. These conditions are taken into account when considering environmental adaptations needed in the home to provide the person with an appropriate living situation. In addition to these considerations, some people have behavioral challenges that require specialized training for those who support them. Staff are trained to use positive approaches in all situations as well as other behavioral interventions.
Promoting Independence
The level of independence that the person is capable of and their needs
determine the type of staffing provided. In all the group homes, people
are encouraged and supported to be as independent as possible. Many of
the group homes are barrier-free making them accessible to people who
need to use walkers or wheelchairs.
