Programs and Services: In Home Services
In Home Services provide training and assistance to people who live at home with their families or who are living on their own. Hope Enterprises, Inc. staff goes to the family’s/individual’s home to work with them. Staff schedules vary depending on the time of day or day of the week that services are required.
In Home Services provide various types of support to the individual.
Some staff take the individual out to do activities in the community.
The person will go shopping to learn purchasing and money management
skills. Other activities include recreational activities, such as going
to a carnival, or to exercise at the local YMCA. Staff do indoor
activities, also. They teach cooking and laundry skills, writing,
personal hygiene, and decision making. Staff will sometimes take the
individual to doctor’s appointments to help with understanding medical
issues. In Home staff will follow up with therapeutic exercises that
have been recommended by the physician, physical/occupational therapist.
Success Story
One person, with whom In Home staff work, is Tim. He lives in his own apartment. Tim is fairly self sufficient. He is employed in the community at a local restaurant. Even though Tim does well living on his own, he needs to have some help. Tim has a recommendation from his doctor that he lose weight. Staff go with Tim to the grocery store each week to help him in making good food choices. At his apartment, staff assist Tim with preparing some of his meals so that he improves his cooking skills. The staff help Tim to manage his money, so that he has enough to last until his next check comes. Sometimes, Tim wants to do something, but he doesn’t know how to go about the task. The staff will help Tim to problem solve how to accomplish what he wants to do. One example is teaching how to clean out his closets and rearrange his furniture. In Home Services staff have helped people maintain their independence and have assisted a family to maintain their family member at home.
