Employment: Job Descriptions

All positions require an Act 33 and Criminal History Clearance. Please note that most positions require a valid driver’s license. The primary duties of all positions is to perform in accordance with agency policies, procedures and regulations. The positions listed below correspond with the current job openings, other positions are not listed.

Instructional Aide

The Instructional Aide assists the Early Learning Teacher in providing an appropriate program to the children enrolled in the Early Learning Program. This includes planning activities, data collection, planning functions, as well as other duties. A full time aide generally assumes more responsibility in the classroom than a part time aide.

Qualifications:  Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field or a high school diploma and experience with young children is required for this position.

Habilitation Staff

Habilitation Staff will assist and participate in the direct care services of mentally /physically handicapped individuals in a group home setting. Personal care, behavioral intervention and activities of daily living are a few of the responsibilities involved with this position. Staff will work under the supervision of the Manager.

QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED is required. One year of experience in human services is preferred or equivalent combination of experience and training is acceptable. A valid driver’s license is required unless programmatic circumstances permit.

Teacher

The Early Learning Teacher will provide an appropriate program for the children enrolled in the Early Learning Class and is responsible to the Early Learning Supervisor.  The teacher will be required to assess developmental skills, develop an Individualized Education Program for each participant, provide programming, involve parents/professionals in the process, and manage other duties as required.

Qualifications:  Bachelor of Science degree in special education, early childhood or elementary education and at least two (2) years work experience with an Early Learning population.
 

Habilitation Manager

The Habilitation Manager will supervise and coordinate all services related to the group home under the supervision of the Director of the assigned site.  Responsibilities include formal programming, skills training and support for individuals, as well as supervision of staff and facility maintenance.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and training is acceptable.  A valid driver’s license may be required.

Work Supervisor - Job Coach (CES Northumberland County)

The Job Coach must be knowledgeable regarding community employment sites within Northumberland County, provision of job skills training and support, assistance with social adjustment in the work setting, acting as a liaison between Hope and the employer, as well as working with others to insure a successful job placement for the individual.

Qualifications:  Associate degree in Human Service or Business field, plus experience in a community placement or job training program (Northumberland county) or an equivalent amount of education and experience. Knowledge of local business and industry in Northumberland County desirable. 

Custodian

The Custodian is responsible for providing quality janitorial services at the assigned job sites. Performing cleaning duties as well as equipment maintenance are the primary job responsibilities of this position.

Qualifications:  No experience required but previous experience preferred. 

Trainer

The Trainer will insure quality individual care and assist in the development, training and maintenance of individual skills in independent, leisure and behavioral objectives including outings and community activities with individuals Duties also include record maintenance, monitoring health and environmental issues as well as maintaining the safety of all individuals.
 

Qualifications: High School Diploma with experience in human services. Formal education in rehabilitation/ habilitation/ psychology or special education helpful., Valid driver’s license required
 

Bus Aide

Bus aide is responsible for riding the bus (full size) and helping the individuals reach their destinations safely while providing assistance and direction as needed.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D., valid driver’s license (preferred), ability to work split shift hours (7:45AM – 9:15AM & 2:45PM-4:15PM.  Some experience working with disabled persons preferred.

Van Aide

Accompany individuals Monday through Friday to and from their day program. Ensure that all individuals are wearing seat belts at all times, secure the tie downs for wheelchairs when applicable and maintain order on the van. Help maintain cleanliness of the van, both interior and exterior. The Van Assistant is responsible for completing paperwork daily, including attendance on the van, both AM & PM, for each rider.  Monday-Friday split shift of hours from 6AM-9AM and 2:45PM-5:15PM

Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D.  Some experience working with disabled persons preferred.  Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements (e.g. background checks and physical including drug screen)
