What does a Human Services Professional do?
Each location offers different experiences, depending upon the people
you support and the hours you work. With over 35 different locations in
Lycoming, Clinton, Northumberland, and Union Counties, there are a variety of
options for employment in group homes, supporting people in community
jobs or the vocational work center, or in preschool settings.
Many of the individuals need daily assistance with the following:
- Bathing
- Eating
- Dressing
Some require other types of assistance such as:
- Helping with doctors’ appointments or grocery shopping
- Cooking, house cleaning, or laundry
- Taking medications
We are committed to helping individuals become a part of their community. This means you will be asked to take people to the following:
- Community activities such as going to the YMCA, a picnic, a movie
- The bank, the grocery store, clothing stores, or the mall for other items
- Places of worship
Many of the “tasks” performed by the Human Services Professional are fun for both the individual and the staff person. Staff can suggest activities; however, it is the individual who determines these activities.
It may be challenging at first, but Human Services Professionals find the work very rewarding and enjoyable.
