Hope supports people who have many disabilities. They often need
physical assistance such as transfer from a bed, wheelchair, toilet, or bathtub. It is important that you are able to
push/pull up to 50 pounds. In many situations, you will have equipment
to assist you. Some individuals will need assistance with other personal
care needs.
Human Services Professionals are expected to complete courses in Medication Administration, First Aid and CPR. Once trained, you will pass medications to individuals for whom they are prescribed. Medical treatments and/or other procedures may be required. Training will be completed before any staff person administers these treatments.
Nurses are available in some locations to train you, and to consult with you to ensure your competence. You will be expected to document accurately all medications and treatments given. You are also responsible for monitoring the general health and safety of the people for whom you provide support.
